Timeshare Questions

Are there owner rental listings for Marriott Custom House Timeshare, Boston?

Question by : Are there owner rental listings for Marriott Custom House Timeshare, Boston?
I know that timeshare owners often list their free week on E-Bay instead of staying themselves. I was wondering if there are any other sites where owners rent out their weeks. I am mostly interested in the Marriott Custom House, Boston.

Any help would be appreciated.

We are using our Boston Custom House for 2011, but will be renting it out for 2012. We usually rent it out for $ 1500 per week over 4th of July week.
If you are interested, and I can help you, please let me know so that I may secure reservations on the dates you desire. I do have another Marriott property that I banked and I could also try to trade it for you. this could be used for 2011 if you desire.
Thanks,
Jo Ann

I’ve been contacted by Corporate Travel Brokers to sell my timeshare, but they want $ 2250 up front which they say is refundable once the title clears. Wondering if anyone has done this and did they get the refund and the sale price after that?

They are unlikely to sell it, that is why they want to be paid upfront.

Q&A: is timeshare worth keeping it after a year of skipping the association fee of $84.00/quarter?

If it’s worth it or not depends on your travel style or how often you travel.
Timeshare is definitely for people with NO FINANCIAL problems and when doing it for the RIGHT reasons and under the RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES it can be a GOOD THING.

BIG “NO,NOS” IN TIMESHARE:

*If you normally spend less than $ 100 USD a night for accommodations then timeshare is NOT FOR YOU
*It is not a financial investment
*Don´t buy if you plan to rent it
*Don´t buy if you plan on reselling
*Don´t buy if you plan on exchanging often
*Make sure you can afford to travel at least one week a year
*NEVER BUY FROM THE DEVELOPER

THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES:

*This system makes vacation home ownership possible for many people who cannot afford a second home or who otherwise would not be able to enjoy such resort facilities. Timeshare is an investment in lifestyle, in future holidays, in family time together, and when viewed that way it can be a good investment indeed.
*Get it in an area the you LOVE and that you would visit every year without a problem
*Get it in a very nice Resort (where normally people would pay at least $ 200 a night)
*Get it in the resale market (it would cost you less than $ 1000 USD) so all what you have to spend is the maintenance fee.

HERE ARE THE NUMBERS:

$ 200 USD a night (in a decent resort) x 6 nights = $ 1200 USD

Maintenance fee in a NICE RESORT x 6 nights = $ 700
*Maintenance in a “decent resort” x 6 nights = $ 400

Is a Diamond Resorts Timeshare a good investment?

Question by DP: Is a Diamond Resorts Timeshare a good investment?
I recently purchased a Timeshare with Diamond Resorts in Hawaii. I plan on going on vacation every year. They use a points system so it is much more flexible. However I hear that assessment fees could become expensive. Is this a bad investment?!

Best answer:

Answer by Kay
I’m sorry I have to say that almost all timeshare investments are considered bad investment. It will end up costing you more money than just paying hotels on your vacation. Also, when you want to sell, almost nobody wants to buy because timeshares in general have bad reputation as an investment vehicle. These assessment fees and taxes you pay on the timeshare property could run up quite high.
If you can, try to sell it at your earliest possible and never look back. My advise is based on actual experience by my close relative, 2 of my friends, and one neighbor across the street who got hooked to the deal and lost a lot of money over time.

Has anyone ever used Elite Ownership Solutions to sell their Timeshare, but been ripped off?

Question by : Has anyone ever used Elite Ownership Solutions to sell their Timeshare, but been ripped off?
I am having trouble contacting this company. They signed a contract to sell my Orlando timeshare, but have not followed through with the financial details. Unfortunately, I had to give them $ 1600 up front, but the only comments I could find online about them were positive, so I decided to do it.

Very worried in New Orleans

You were scammed. Anything to do with timeshares is a scam. Any legit company would take their fee out of the sale proceeds. It appears you didn’t think about that.

Question by dtoole: Is anyone a member or know anything about a travel club called “Worldwide Destination Services”?
Located in Tampa on Baycenter Dr. – for the presentation. You pay thousands of dollars to join, you get discounted travel. Want to talk to someone that has joined/used it to see if it is easier to use than timeshares, and get user opinion…

You’re better off with timeshares. I have one with Westgate Palace. You get a lot better usage and they even acquire equity. Good luck.

Is Sky Blue Solutions a good company to use to sell a timeshare?

Question by Redwoof: Is Sky Blue Solutions a good company to use to sell a timeshare?
I have been contacted by this company. They want to sell my Marriott timeshare. They also want $ 799 up front. I want to know of this is a reasonable request?

Best answer:

Answer by v b
“They want $ 799 up front.”

And then when they don’t sell it, you are out $ 799.

They could be legit, but it certainly sounds like an advance fee scam.
